tennis CAMP
Overview

The OGRCC Tennis Camps are directed by our dedicated tennis professional, Jon Bott, and his dynamic team. Learn new tennis skills, work hard, and make new friends. Our morning camp program is designed younger kids and our afternoon program older kids. Camp activities include tennis drills, an optional cross-training component, games, and for the older kids possible mini matches. Children will receive a minimum of 2 hours of on-court instruction each day.

Camp typically will run Monday – Thursday from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm for ages 5-8. (Friday reserved for make-up).

This camp includes instruction on the forehand, backhand, serve and volley. There is also an optional cross-training component to this camp to facilitate coordination as well as improve endurance. Children will receive a minimum of 2 hours of on-court instruction each day. Children should bring a small nut-free snack each day.

Quick Start red balls will be used for Pee Wees. Orange balls for younger junior players while the more advanced 10 and under juniors will use the green ball.

A typical day:

9:00 am – 10:00 am

  • Dead ball drills combined with live rally games
  • Monday: work on forehand
  • Tuesday: work on backhand
  • Wednesday: work on volley
  • Thursday: work on serve

10:00 am – 11:00 am

  • Play action involving these strokes

11:00 – 11:15 am

  • Snack break

11:15 am – 12:00 pm

  • Point play including serving and review of the stroke of the day.
  • Also, could be 30 minutes of optional field time from 11:15 am – 11:45 am.

About Us

The Old Greenwich – Riverside Community Center (OGRCC) offers one of the most comprehensive community youth and adult recreational, athletic, educational and social programs.
