Overview
The OGRCC is excited to partner with Food Explorers again this summer. The summer camps are designed to get kids excited about food and nutrition. Children will create a snack and a meal while also participating in food and nutrition activities. Summer camps meet for 3 hours per day, Monday – Friday. We have two programs for 2024- Cupcake Crazy and Cooking From Scratch.
Why Cook with Food Explorers?
- All recipes are nut free but may contain dairy and/or eggs.
- Children can try new foods and learn cooking techniques.
- Instructors bring all of the supplies, including their own equipment.
Morning: Cupcake Crazy – Each day you’ll be making two brand new recipes from homemade cake, homemade frosting and delicious toppings. You’ll make recipes like cookie dough, blackberry white chocolate, chocolate brownie and strawberry shortcake. All recipes are nut free but do contain eggs, dairy and gluten. Ingredient substitutions are not possible.
Afternoon: Cooking From Scratch – Each day kids will make two recipes completely from scratch! We’re talking about homemade tortillas, sweet potstickers, perogis, naan bread, apple fritters, and more. Learn all about complex cooking techniques in this hands-on camp. All recipes are nut free but do contain eggs, dairy, and gluten. Ingredient substitutions are not possible.
Food Explorers are half day, 3-hour camps. You are welcome to register for both camps however the instructors are unable to care for the kids during the 1-hour break in between sessions. Please organize childcare during this hour if children are registered for both camps.

The Old Greenwich – Riverside Community Center (OGRCC) offers one of the most comprehensive community youth and adult recreational, athletic, educational and social programs.
