Greenwich Baseball

Mission

Greenwich Baseball (Cal Ripken) seeks to provide a healthy and safe sports environment for Greenwich youth.  We seek to foster teamwork, friendship, fair play, and community pride among all our participants.

As an organization, we strive to provide quality instruction in baseball skill development, mentoring, sportsmanship, character development, and competitive play in a caring and supportive environment.  We are committed to providing a positive experience that fosters love for the game of baseball and the town of Greenwich.

Overview

The Greenwich Baseball Program has aligned itself with Cal Ripken Divisions to enhance the skills and aptitude of our players at all ages and development levels.

Our younger divisions are focused on building fundamentals and confidence for some of our most eager athletes.  Our older divisions are separated by ability to progress athletes appropriately.  We offer Spring (In-Town) and Summer (Travel) Baseball. For more information on each program, click on the links below.

You can read more regarding our divisions by clicking here.

Baseball registration is now closed. Please contact johnny@myogrcc.org for questions regarding the various baseball divisions or if you wish to have your child put on a waitlist. Thank you.

*** Note *** Any child who turns 13 on or before April 30, 2025, is no longer eligible for Cal Ripken Baseball.  Please contact us if your child needs a place to play.

Spring Baseball practice will start on Monday, April 21st and run through June 13th.

FIELD UPDATES & CLOSURES

The majority of fields we play on are controlled by the Town of Greenwich (with exceptions being for Greenwich Catholic School and Stanwich School/GCDS campus). Thus, the Town of Greenwich decides about field availability and disseminates information via the Town Weather Hotline listed below — usually by noon on weekdays and 7 AM on weekends. The OGRCC will send CLOSURE information via email/text from your CommunityPass email account on file.

Key Information for In Town Registration

All T-ball and Coach Pitch time slots will be organized into teams.  Teams will be created with the registrants in each day and time slot.  For instance, if you sign up for Monday 4:30pm, your team will be those players.  This is similar to last year.  Each of these divisions will have one practice during the week (the time slot you have registered for) and one game on the weekend.  Practices will be coached by professional coaches and the games will be coached by a volunteer parent.

All Minor and Major Division teams will be assigned a day/time once the Town of Greenwich assigns our fields in late winter.  Minors will have one practice during the week and two games either during the week or the weekend.  Majors will have one practice during the week and three games either during the week or the weekend.  In Minors and Majors, parent volunteers will be the coaches for both practices and games.

Age cutoffs are by 4/30 of any given year.  If you find that your child does not fit into a specific baseball group by their age, please email the office at office@myogrcc.org and also Johnny at johnny@myogrcc.org.  We realize that some teams will have a range of player ages as some children are in public and private schools at different ages and grades.

For TRAVEL PLAYERS ONLY:

Travel players are required to play In Town baseball and must sign up starting on Jan. 6th.  Parents are required to register for these teams separate from the travel baseball.

All 8U players (White and Red teams) are allowed to sign up for either Coach Pitch or Minors.  This is at the parent’s discretion.  All players will be eligible ahead of time so registration.

All 10U players (White and Red teams) are allowed to sign up for either Minors or Majors.  This is at the parent’s discretion.  All players will be eligible ahead of time.
