ART

Overview

Experience creative art classes offered by our partner, The Art Lab.

Tuesday classes will be taught by the founder, JoAnn O’Hara.
JoAnn has taught painting locally for the past ten years. She has been involved in the visual arts for more than 30 years. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Fashion Design and Merchandising, she moved to New York City and worked for a variety of designers, including Marc Jacobs. Over time, JoAnn pursued her painting vocation at night at Silvermine Art School under David Dunlop and at Greenwich Art Society under Enzo Russo, a pupil of Georgio de Chirico. JoAnn also has developed and currently teaches an art curriculum for children, “Paint-A-Masterpiece.” Her work can be found throughout the United States in offices and private homes.

Saturday classes will be taught by Sarah Schneider
Sarah graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern University. While her three children were young, Sarah started a business painting kids murals, step stools, rocking chairs and wall art and in 2017, Sarah focused on developing her fine art practice. She studied at Silvermine School of Art, Rowayton Art Center and with Artist Joseph Fama. In February 2022, Sarah was one of five artists selected for Ridgefield Guild of Artists’ small group show entitled “2-1-2”. Sarah has worked as a substitute art teacher in the public schools and has taught Art Lab Summer Art camp at the Old Greenwich Riverside Community Center.

We also offer summer art camp. Click here to learn more.

Come inside, relax and wind down with afternoon painting at the Perrot Library. Choose from the wide variety of photos we have on hand or bring your own.  We work from photographs, practice sketching and then use acrylic paint to produce dynamic and layered pieces of art. Themes are suggested, not mandatory.

Materials provided except canvases (students will need about three 18″ x 24″ canvases.)

This is a non-competitive drawing and painting class. All levels are encouraged; students work at an individualized pace.

“This art class is fabulous. My daughter has been a returning student for years. She’s really inspiring and we love the artist reception at the end of the program!”
