Overview
NEW! Self Defense Class for late teens and young women
We are thrilled to partner with SDSS Martial this Fall to offer a self defense class. In this course we will be focusing on practical self defense techniques that cover various situations that can occur if being attacked. We will also cover how to generate striking power regardless of size and strength. We will be doing a lot of partner work so the techniques can be practiced in real time in a safe manner.
All students should wear comfortable athletic leggings, an old t-shirt (the shirt will be pulled in class and may be damaged), and tennis shoes.

About SDSS Martial:
At SDSS Martial we specialize in teaching an ancient art for modern times and have been doing so for over 30 years. Shaolin martial arts have a very long history going back 1,500 years and have influenced countless martial arts styles you see today.

Master Travis Newbury has been studying and teaching martial arts for nearly 20 years. He is a 5th degree black belt in the Shaolin 5 fist system under Grandmaster Steve Demasco, a 34th generation disciple of the Shaolin Temple in China. He has also trained in other styles such as Tae Kwon Do and Kempo. He has been the head instructor for the Greenwich SDSS location for over 15 years.

The Old Greenwich – Riverside Community Center (OGRCC) offers one of the most comprehensive community youth and adult recreational, athletic, educational and social programs. Our offerings range from art, baseball, cooking, basketball, dance, field hockey, film, rugby, soccer, and tennis. We also offer camps and special clinics by season.
