Greenwich, CT, October 19th – The Old Greenwich-Riverside Community Center (OGRCC) held its 59th Annual Model Sailboat Regatta this past Sunday, October 15th, at Binney Park. On a crisp, beautiful fall day, the event attracted model sailboat enthusiasts of all ages from 1 to 4 p.m. Participants competed in categories for homemade boats and motorized and remote-controlled boats.

This event brings together multiple generations, often with grandparents, parents, children, and grandchildren all collaborating on boat building and sailing. The pond was filled with both creative homemade boats made out of recycled materials and more intricate, high-quality wooden model boats.

“This event has been a staple in town for almost 60 years,” said OGRCC Executive Director Jen Ludington.” It’s a great way for families to come together and have fun while learning about the science and engineering behind model sailboats.”

The regatta was a great success, with participants of all ages enjoying the beautiful fall day and the friendly competition. The OGRCC would like to thank all the participants and volunteers who made this event possible.
